Connecting at Munich fair for global initiatives
On 15 November, we had the pleasure of participating in the „München global - solidarisch - aktiv“ fair. The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with initiatives from Munich's educational landscape and discuss ways to work together towards greater global justice. We presented our two projects in Munich and Harare, and showcased our current crowdfunding campaign. We want to say a big thank you to the Nord Süd Forum Munich for organising such a great event!

Our crowdfunding is online!
The 800 pupils at Rising Star Primary School in Hopely, Zimbabwe currently have no access to running water, electricity or light. Without a reliable electricity supply, many things remain impossible. Together we can change that! We are planning to install a solar power system on the school roof. Support the project at betterplace.org. Another chess victory for Donald!
Donald led his team to victory in the internal chess competitions at the University of Cape Town. He impressed throughout the year with consistently strong performances, ultimately being awarded the title of “Most Valuable Player”. With a clear mind and strong commitment, he has shown how to truly excel. We are thrilled for him and congratulate him wholeheartedly!

Reality’s journey to becoming a psychotherapist
Our scholarship programme combines financial support with personalised coaching. Monthly check-ins provide space to discuss challenges, achievements, and personal development. Reality is currently pursuing her Master’s degree in Psychology in Zimbabwe and is following her dream of becoming a psychotherapist. Best wishes to Reality!

Educational initiatives in Munich: sharing best practices
On 25 September, we had the opportunity to connect with other educational initiatives in Munich at the autumn sessions of FÖBE (Förderstelle für Bürgerschaftliches Engagement). Fundraising campaign in preparation
Preparations for the foundation's new solar project are progressing! After visiting the "Rising Star Primary School" in Harare in January 2025, we decided to support the school. The official fundraising campaign to equip the school’s roof with a solar system will launch on 11 November. Divine is starting his final semester
This month marks the start of Divine's final semester of his five-year "Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering" degree at the University of Cape Town. He successfully applied for the scholarship programme in 2022 with this photo and has been enriching the foundation ever since. We wish Divine every success for his final semester!

Takura earns top global Cambridge honour
Fantastic news from Zimbabwe: scholarship holder Takura, has been honoured with the ‘Best in the World’ award for Cambridge A Level Business Studies. This makes him the world's top graduate of this international examination programme.

Two new partner schools!
For our project ‘Equal Opportunities in Primary Schools’, we were able to gain two new partner schools for this school year: Pastetten Primary School and Guldeinstraße Primary School in Munich's Westend district. As part of the cooperation, selected pupils receive tutoring in reading, mathematics and German in small groups. We look forward to working together!

Internship successes among our scholars
A total of nine out of thirteen scholarship recipients completed an internship during the 2025 semester break. For example, Donald, who is studying chemical engineering, worked at a company in the energy and wastewater sector. There, he was able to gain initial practical experience and establish a professional network. We congratulate all of our scholars!

New scholar has joined our programme in Zimbabwe
We are delighted to welcome a new scholar to our SAA community. Takura (18), who has just started studying Financial Economics and Trade at the University of Zimbabwe at the end of August. Despite facing challenging circumstances at the outset, he has qualified for our scholarship programme due to his exceptional academic performance and personal dedication.

Participation in the 11th meeting of the "Network Foundations and Education" in Weissenburg
We are delighted to have been able to participate in the meeting of the Network Foundations and Education in Weißenburg. The exchange with other educational initiatives was extremely inspiring and opened up new perspectives for us. The discussions about a possible cooperation with a primary school in the Munich area were particularly enriching. They opened up exciting new avenues for our work.

Chess Scholarship for Donald
Due to his outstanding chess skills, Donald has been awarded a scholarship worth 10 000 Rand from the University of Cape Town. Before beginning his studies in South Africa, Donald had already represented Zimbabwe at the World Chess Championships in Mexico in 2023. We are very proud of Donald!

The first tandem has begun!
In early January 2025, our first tandem began at the Dieselschule in Moosach. Within this project, selected pupils from our partner primary schools receive individual support and encouragement from young university students once a week.

Strengthening local partnerships in Zimbabwe
Our local networks in Zimbabwe are very important to us. We once again had the wonderful opportunity to meet the Young Africa team. Young Africa is an organisation that offers vocational training in over 25 different fields. We have already been able to place several young people who have subsequently received trainings there.

Support for New Start Children Home
During our visit to Zimbabwe, we also visited the "New Start Children's Home" orphanage, which we have been supporting since 2018. There, we handed over donations in kind from our donor network. We would like to thank everyone for their generous donations.

Getting to know Rising Star Primary School
A few months ago, we met German architect Kristina Ziadeh through our Zimbabwe network. With donations from Germany, she has spent many years building up the Rising Star School in Harare. We were deeply moved by the children and impressed by the school's unique architecture. For this reason, we have decided to support the project in the future. Planning is already in progress.

Visit to the National Gallery in Harare
For the first time in their lives, our scholars visited an art exhibition. In January 2025, they explored the National Gallery in Harare. The gallery is dedicated to Zimbabwean art and culture and impressively showcases how tradition meets contemporary creativity. It was an inspiring experience for our young talents to experience the diversity of the Zimbabwean art scene up close.

Visiting Harare 2025
In January 2025, we traveled to Zimbabwe for four intense days, where we met both familiar and new faces. Enriched by fresh impressions from the fields of art, culture, and entrepreneurship, an inspiring collaboration emerged.

We did it: €6,277 for more education in Munich 🎉
In order to be able to offer even more disadvantaged children free tutoring at Munich primary schools, we launched a fundraising campaign for our project "Equal Opportunities at Primary Schools" in December 2024 and exceeded our original fundraising target of €3,000.

Presentation of project outline at "Network Foundations and Education"
As part of the 10th meeting of the Network Foundations and Education in Bavaria, we presented a project outline on the topic “Opportunities through Education – Raising Awareness among Tomorrow’s Young Professionals about Career Paths.” The discussion with the other participants was extremely valuable for us, and we would like to thank Sabine Süß for the excellent moderation.

Eunice has successfully repaid her microcredit

Our tutoring programme returns as the school year begins!
In September 2024, not only did the new school year begin, but our tutoring programme at six partner primary schools also restarted. Nearly 100 pupils are now receiving additional support in small groups. The aim is to close learning gaps, nurture individual strengths, and inspire a renewed joy in learning.

Meeting with our tutors
During our most recent meeting in July 2024, the foundation team had the opportunity to meet our long-standing tutors, Stefanie Baginski and Melanie Körner, in person. Mouhamed successfully repaid his micro-credit

Meeting at Dieselschule
During a visit to the Diesel School in July 2024, we had the opportunity to get to know the new school management better. Mrs Bauer, former deputy headmaster and our long-standing contact person, is leaving the school. Her successor as deputy headmaster is Jana Härtl. We would like to thank Mrs Bauer for her excellent work and look forward to continuing our cooperation!

Donation campaign at the Dieselschule, Moosach
Our partner school, the Dieselschule in Moosach, organised a large-scale book collection and donation campaign to support the school library. Altogether, we were able to donate around 1,000 books!

Harare Trip
In January 2023, we travelled once again to Harare, Zimbabwe. This gave us the valuable opportunity to meet our scholars in person and to further strengthen the connections we had already built. A highlight of the programme was a workshop, where we worked together with the students on topics such as self-organisation and motivation.

Holistic Progress for Ephinia & Jacqueline
During our trip to Harare, we had the opportunity to meet Jacqueline and her mother Ephinia again. Over the past year, we have supported them financially by covering both Jacqueline’s school fees and the cost of the medication that Ephinia urgently needs. We are especially pleased to share that Ephinia’s health has improved significantly! This holistic approach has brought about tangible, positive changes for the family, enabling Jacqueline to focus on her schooling with far fewer worries.

Top Marks Achieved!
These two pupils, who live at the "New Start Children’s Home" orphanage, achieved the best O-Level results in their school. Meeting Dr. Farag in Harare
During our trip to Harare in January 2023, the foundation team had the opportunity to meet Dr. Farag once again. As the founder of the "New Start Children’s Home" orphanage, he has dedicated his life to supporting disadvantaged children and adults. It was his personality and tireless commitment that ultimately inspired the establishment of the Siddhartha Anna Albrecht Foundation.
